The Global E-lottery and State Influences

Similar to the shopping public at stores and malls who more often than not are tempted by purchasing tickets when lotto jackpots become large enough, US officials in as many as 12 states are contemplating lottery privatizations — that would effectively amount to the largest non-public event of a state enterprise in the history of America. Deemed to be the ok lottery, by some, still is having a grand effect on the lotto style of play and keeping it in line with the global e-lottery mentality.

The Financial centre of Wall Street, situated to broker a dominant role in bringing together these deals, is hoping to achieve some extremely large prize gains itself. If the plans now being contested in four large lottery states — California, Illinois, Texas and Florida — were to continue, the magnetic centre could potentially reap millions in broking fees.

Monetize Lottery Gains

The concern for states to monetize also crosses political lines. Recently, governors in many Republican and Democratic strongholds have pushed through the initial proposals to bring their lotteries in to the private sector.

With in the Big Apple of New York, recognised as one of the best-run lotto's in the USA, officials are closely exploring the lottery in private hands idea and have sought advice from top brokers and the banking fraternity on the proposed benefits.

Intrigued by the potential financial gain from privatization, some argue for the social consequences. This has been evidenced in part by studies on low income and ethnic minorities. They purport that the addictive element is more prevalent in these sectors than others.

The combination of marketing the sector in an aggressive manner lends it self to this. However, in other countries around the world and in particular the UK, under the 1980's Margaret Thatcher government privatization for all its perceived benefits crossed many bridges? Today, e-lottery syndicates and platforms are private entities and so therefore already have their influences.

E-lottery and the European Lottery

Government backing of the UK lottery and Euro Millions is participant in the Lotteries commission and within this area has some serious and major influences. Across Europe the European lottery and its various commissions have now taken a united front regarding the Lotto concept in their respective countries.

Given all the above and the connecting evidence it really is society that dictates the feeling of whether or not these are good or bad, whether or not these should be state run lotto's of a private long term future....Who knows which route is best and most productive with in our world today. A major theme of lotteries is the way in which they are marketed and distributed. The more effective the advocacy, the greater the take up and therefore its ultimate success. Everything from the scratch card, the pooled e-lottery syndicate type ticket and the straight ticket purchase all lends to a creative lottery feel.
